A natural treatment for respiratory problems…
Salt room therapy or halotherapy involves breathing salty air delivered in a special room known as ‘salt room’ or ‘salt cave’ which has 3-4 tonnes of salt on the walls, roof and floor. Outside the room are devices called ‘halogenerators’ which inject micro-fine particles of salt into the salt room thereby replicating the microclimate found in salt mines. The salt concentration in the air is carefully monitored and controlled.
Salt therapy is a natural, drugs-free treatment. It works by reducing inflammation and clearing harmful pathogens from the respiratory system. The therapy is ideal for a host of breathing and lung afflictions like asthma, bronchitis, nasal congestion, chest infection, shortness of breath, cough, sinusitis, rhinitis, tonsillitis, respiratory allergies as well as COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). It is also useful for skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema.
How does the treatment proceed?
Each session lasts for an hour. Depending on severity of condition one or more sessions may be needed to get relief. The salt room has chairs in the room for people to sit. They need to breathe normally and can listen to music or read or watch TV during the treatment. Children’s area has toys and games.
So, if you experience symptoms listed above, say goodbye to inhalators, corticosteroids and antibiotics. Instead, give salt room therapy a try!
